Meter Reader

About the role

The Residential Meter Reader works in the Customer Care Department, providing accurate and timely reads of residential meters for the company’s client districts.

Responsibilities

• Read residential meters in a timely manner and as scheduled.
• Perform residential and commercial rereads.
• Work accurately with minimal supervision.
• Replace stuck meters (meter size: 1” and below).
• Assist Service Department by performing meter change‑out as needed (meter size: 1” and below).
• Perform field service work as assigned.
• Work outdoors independently or as part of a team.
• Complete special projects as requested.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Meter reading experience is beneficial.
• Basic Water “Class D” License, or ability to obtain one within six (6) months of employment.
• Valid driver’s license with no moving violations.

Skills

• Computer proficient.
• Ability to learn meter reading software and handheld devices.
• Clear communication with customers and clients.
