Meter Electrician C-A
About the Role
Install and maintain all types of electric meters energized at any voltage in the shop, stations, switchyards, generating plants, and on customer premises. Install and maintain distribution grid control devices and automated metering and distribution grid network infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Read meters as required for field order and on schedule for cycle billing
- Install, remove, change disconnect, and reconnect meters
- Test single phase, network, and polyphase self-contained meters for proper operation and accuracy
- Program meters
- Perform Credit and Collections related orders including disconnect and reconnect for non-payment
- Investigate irregular usage and energy diversion
- Repair meters, meter sockets, and meter enclosures
- Order, receive, ship, store, and inventory meter and associated equipment
- Investigate self-contained service power quality problems, install event recorders, neutral testers, and produce reports
- Perform work from ladders and elevated platforms
Requirements
Successful candidate must live or be willing to relocate within 30 miles of the Coshocton Service Center (405 Brewer Lane, Coshocton, Ohio 43812).
Qualifications
Meter Electrician C
- Associate degree in electrical/electronic technology or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience of four years
- Qualified backgrounds include substation, metering, instrumentation, controls, power systems, or electrical maintenance, with demonstrated hands-on experience in testing, troubleshooting, and working with electrical equipment
- Examples of relevant roles: Meter Specialist, Meter Technician, Field Network Technician, substation field personnel, or comparable military/industrial technical training
- State Driver License
- Must possess and maintain a medical certification card, if required by law
- Within 24 months of employment, complete the Company's training and qualification program including classroom instruction, written examination, job mentoring, and job performance demonstrations
- Work overtime as needed, including extended daily shifts and weekends
- Work late shifts as needed
- Work independently under semi-direct supervision in a safe, efficient, and productive manner
- Proficient use of computers and related applications
- Effective communication with employees, customers, and the public
Meter Electrician B
- Associate degree in electrical/electronic technology or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience of four years
- Qualified backgrounds include substation, metering, instrumentation, controls, power systems, or electrical maintenance, with demonstrated hands-on experience in testing, troubleshooting, and working with electrical equipment
- 24 months of experience as a Meter Electrician C
- State Driver License
- Must possess and maintain a medical certification card, if required by law
- Prior to promotion, complete 24 months in the Meter Electrician C classification
- Within 24 months of promotion, complete the Company's training and qualification program including classroom instruction, written examination, job mentoring, and job performance demonstrations
- Work overtime as needed, including extended daily shifts and weekends
- Work late shifts as needed
- Work independently under general supervision in a safe, efficient, and productive manner
- Proficient use of computers and related applications
- Effective communication with employees, customers, and the public
- Ability to walk long distances as determined by the Company
- Ability to lift a 50-pound weight from the floor to a workbench
Meter Electrician A
- Associate degree in electrical/electronic technology or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience of four years
- Qualified backgrounds include substation, metering, instrumentation, controls, power systems, or electrical maintenance, with demonstrated hands-on experience in testing, troubleshooting, and working with electrical equipment
- 24 months of experience as a Meter Electrician B
- State Driver License
- Must possess and maintain a medical certification card, if required by law
- Complete the Company's training and qualification program during the 24-month period in the Meter Electrician B classification
- Work overtime as needed, including extended daily shifts and weekends
- Work late shifts as needed
- Work independently under general supervision in a safe, efficient, and productive manner
- Proficient use of computers and related applications
- Effective communication with employees, customers, and the public
- Ability to walk long distances as determined by the Company
- Ability to lift a 50-pound weight from the floor to a workbench
Pay
- Meter Electrician C: $31.33 - $34.84 per hour
- Meter Electrician B: $36.39 - $40.03 per hour
- Meter Electrician A: $58.62 per hour
