LOCATION Holland, Michigan / Hybrid DEPARTMENT Supply Chain Management REPORTS TO Director of Supply Chain Management Make an Impact GHSP is seeking a Metals Category Manager to develop and execute the global strategy for metallic commodities supporting our manufacturing operations. This leader will own sourcing strategy, supplier performance, commercial negotiations, cost optimization and supply continuity while developing a Commodity Manager and Commodity Buyer. This is a highly visible role for a strategic procurement leader who can balance long-term category planning with decisive action on negotiations, launches and critical supplier issues. What You'll Do Develop and execute a comprehensive global strategy for metals and hardware commodities, including castings, stampings, machined components, sintered metals, fasteners, bearings and related technologies. Build short- and long-term sourcing roadmaps based on business demand, technology needs, supplier capability, market conditions and risk. Lead complex negotiations involving piece price, raw-material mechanisms, tooling, payment terms, capacity, long-term agreements, claims and commercial terms. Own executive relationships with strategic and critical suppliers and lead business reviews focused on quality, delivery, cost, innovation, responsiveness and sustainability. Deliver cost-reduction, PPV, working-capital and risk-reduction objectives through strategic sourcing, competitive benchmarking, VA/VE, supplier productivity and material standardization. Lead sourcing decisions for new awards, market tests, supplier transfers, localization and resourcing activities. Partner with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Program Management, Finance, Advanced Procurement and Supplier Development to support acquisition, APQP and successful program launches. Lead the procurement response to shortages, capacity constraints, tariffs, supplier financial distress, geopolitical disruptions and line-down threats. Maintain contingency plans for critical components, single-source exposure and high-risk suppliers, with clear ownership and executive communication. Lead and develop the Metals Commodity Manager and Metals Commodity Buyer through clear priorities, coaching, accountability and succession planning. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Finance or a related field; MBA, CPSM or another advanced credential preferred. 10+ years of progressive procurement, strategic sourcing or supply chain experience. 5+ years leading metals-related categories in automotive or complex manufacturing; Automotive Tier 1 or OEM experience strongly preferred. 3+ years of direct people-leadership experience. Demonstrated success leading global supplier relationships, complex negotiations, sourcing decisions and cost-reduction programs. Strong understanding of metallic materials and manufacturing processes, including castings, stampings, machining, sintering, fabrication, fasteners and bearings. Experience with commodity indices, raw-material adjustment mechanisms, tariffs, cost modeling and should-cost analysis. Strong financial, analytical and executive communication skills, with working knowledge of ERP and sourcing systems such as QAD, SAP or Oracle. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.
