Metallurgy Engineer Consultant
About the role
We are seeking a Metallurgical Engineer – Staff Consultant to join our Cincinnati office. In this role, you will support and lead complex consulting engagements involving failure analysis, creep testing, materials degradation, welding, and asset integrity across multiple industries.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute metallurgical failure analyses across industries including petrochemical, industrial, medical, and consumer products
- Perform creep testing and remaining life assessments in high-temperature environments
- Provide expertise in metallurgy, welding, fabrication, corrosion, and material performance
- Prepare, present, and defend high-impact technical reports and client deliverables
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to solve complex problems
- Mentor developing engineers and strengthen technical capabilities within the team
- Contribute to industry thought leadership through conferences, committees, and standards development
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Metallurgical or Materials Engineering (ferrous metallurgy preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in metallurgical engineering (energy, petrochemical, industrial, power, or aerospace sectors)
- Consulting experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (API, ASME, NACE)
- Strong technical communication skills with the ability to develop defensible engineering conclusions
- Experience or interest in emerging materials challenges (e.g., hydrogen, carbon capture, additive manufacturing)
- PE license or ability to obtain
- Ability to travel to industrial, refinery, and client sites as needed
- U.S. work authorization required
