PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Translate customer and industry requirements into comprehensive process designs, control plans, FMEAs, and production work instructions, ensuring flawless execution.
- Monitor process performance and success metrics to identify opportunities for improvement in products and operations.
- Develop and implement innovative solutions using expertise in material science and metallurgy to optimize processes, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
- Design and execute experiments to address manufacturing challenges and develop new production methodologies.
- Assess the impact of equipment and operational changes on product quality and establish controls to ensure consistency.
- Enhance equipment reliability and uptime while adhering to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations.
- Engage in hands-on troubleshooting and provide on-call responses to operational disruptions, ensuring quick resolution and long-term solutions.
- Offer technical guidance and problem-solving support to production and maintenance teams, leveraging advanced quality systems and reliability tools.
- Initiate improvement projects to address safety and quality concerns, drive cost efficiency, and strengthen customer satisfaction.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Metallurgy, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience as a Metallurgist within a manufacturing setting.
- Proficiency in statistical methods, engineering calculations, physical and mechanical metallurgy, lubricants, and material processing.
- Demonstrated expertise in rolling operations and aluminum manufacturing.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and quality systems such as TS 16949, IATF, or ISO 9001.
- Skilled in working with heat-treatable alloys.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Proven ability to perform root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with quality systems, statistical analysis, metrology, and inspection techniques.
- Ability to effectively communicate process management and statistical concepts to manufacturing teams in a practical and approachable manner.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools such as Minitab and Spotfire.
