Job Details
A large-scale metals manufacturing operation is hiring a Metallurgical Engineer to support and improve sheet production processes. This role focuses on driving product quality, process stability, and cost efficiency through hands-on engineering work and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you will do
- Translate customer and industry requirements into process controls, documentation, and standardized work instructions; track performance and adjust to improve outcomes
- Identify process gaps and implement improvement plans that increase quality, reduce scrap, and lower operating costs
- Design and execute technical experiments to improve materials performance and manufacturing consistency
- Analyze how equipment and process variables impact product quality; define controls to maintain standards
- Support operations with real-time troubleshooting and root cause analysis; implement corrective actions that prevent recurrence
- Partner with maintenance and production teams to improve uptime, reliability, and throughput
- Lead or support projects focused on safety, quality, and cost reduction across the operation
- Ensure compliance with established quality systems and participate in internal and external audits
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in a metals or heavy manufacturing environment
- Experience supporting rolling, forming, or similar production processes is helpful
- Familiarity with structured quality systems and root cause problem solving
- Ability to apply data analysis, measurement methods, and process control techniques
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with production teams
- Comfortable working in a hands-on production environment with on-call troubleshooting

- Automotive or high-spec product exposure
- Experience with heat-treated alloys
- Llean manufacturing experience
