About the role
As a Metal Finisher, you will operate hand and power tools and/or equipment to grind welds and finish metal parts to company standards. You will report directly to the Operations Manager and ensure all parts meet high-quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate hand and power tools to grind welds and finish stainless steel parts to top-tier company standards.
- Utilize a variety of equipment including 4" angle grinders, air tools, polishing pedestals, belt sanders, and surfoxing equipment.
- Perform stud welding, light assembly, bead blasting, and custom polishing.
- Set up your work area for ergonomic part handling, safety, and optimal positioning.
- Conduct visual and touch inspections to catch and correct defects like dents, scratches, or breaks before parts move to shipping.
- Maintain and clean air tools (including oiling) and keep your station orderly.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to match strict part requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Technical Certification or Diploma from a technical college preferred.
- 1 year of relevant metal finishing or fabrication experience.
- Strong time management, problem-solving, basic mathematics, and the ability to read blueprints and tape measures accurately.
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working alone with little or no direction.
Physical Requirements & Environment
- Activity Level: Standing (40%), walking (40%), and sitting (20%).
- Strength: Ability to lift 25-40 pounds; anything over 40 pounds requires a two-person lift or assist device.
- Environment: Exposure to weather, extreme cold/heat, wet/humid conditions, loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, toxic/caustic chemicals.
- Frequent Actions: Lifting, transporting, pushing, pulling, handling, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, hearing, near/far acuity, depth perception, color vision, tasting/smelling.
Must be able to complete a background check and pass a pre-employment drug test prior to starting and after offer is made.
