Metal Finisher/ Grinder

About the role

The Grinder/Metal Finisher position is varied in scope, involving the use of various grinding tools and attachments to achieve required surface finishes. Workers may also perform other general tasks not specifically listed in this job description.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all Feldmeier safety and company policies, as well as Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts.
• Layout component locations per instructions.
• Prepare work surfaces via cutting and finishing.
• Set up and operate grinding equipment for assigned jobs.
• Complete housekeeping duties in assigned areas or as requested by management.
• Complete all required paperwork and properly log time into the MES system.

Requirements

• Previous fabricating experience.
• Ability to read measuring tapes and operate tools such as grinders and welding torches.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 or more years of grinding experience.
• 2 or more years of fabrication and blueprint reading.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, and maneuvering up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and platforms for elevated work.
• Walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, balancing, stooping, lying down inside or under vessels, and twisting while performing tasks.
• Mindfulness of chemical safety and proper use of PPE when required.
• Ability to hold a 20lb grinder for prolonged periods while applying force.

Pay

$22.00–$31.50 per hour.
