Class A Grinder/ Metal Finisher

About the role

Grinders perform class C/B grinding and finishing work on sheet metal products for secondary operations with low cosmetic visibility.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and operate standard hand grinders.
• Deburr, buff, and/or polish materials to specifications.
• Examine and feel surface of product for defects.
• Remove defects, scratches, excess weld material, and burs to produce a smooth unmarred surface.
• Prepare products for secondary operations such as powder coating by achieving a Class C/B finish with low cosmetic visibility.
• Ensure that safety devices and guards are operative and follow safety protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1-2 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to stand, walk, and lift for up to 8 hours daily.
• Vision abilities require close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
• Required to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 lbs. continually.
• May be required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Moderately loud noise levels in plant environment.
