About the role

The Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) team at AES Corporation oversees the company's growth through various transactions. This role involves leading analysis of M&A transactions, managing such transactions, and performing other quantitative and qualitative analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Lead several work streams for live transactions, including development of the financial model, creation of the confidential information memorandum (for divestitures/partnerships), coordination of the Q&A process, management of external consultants, and negotiation of parts of the transaction documentation
  • Design, build, and use financial and valuation models, including DCF and earnings models, to assess individual projects and AES as a whole
  • Analyze potential transactions and investments under the direction of transaction leaders, including strategic and financial impacts and risks
  • Manage an associate or other junior team member on internal projects, as requested by management
  • Coordinate the gathering, validation, synthesis and interpretation of data from confidential and public sources to assist in analysis
  • Develop a deep understanding of AES corporate and business structure, financials, valuation, credit ratings, strategy, capital costs, and tax position for use in transaction assessments
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and reports to communicate findings and recommendations
  • Interact with other AES groups and AES businesses in a professional manner to collect information and documents, validate analyses, and facilitate internal and external due diligence
  • Coverage of interaction with external parties and advisors
  • Support internal processes for transaction assessment/approval, including Investment Committee memos and presentations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in an analytical discipline
  • MBA or other relevant Master's Degree highly preferred
  • 5+ years of work experience
  • Demonstrated analytical experience and intellectual curiosity
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate complex matters in a convincing manner to diverse stakeholders
  • Excel financial modeling skills and proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Detailed understanding of financial statement mechanics and business valuation theory
  • Proficient in use of financial research tools, such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ and Thomson One

Skills

  • Understanding of AES corporate and business structure, financials, valuation, credit ratings, strategy, capital costs, and tax position
  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations and reports
  • Experience in interacting with external parties and advisors
  • Experience in supporting internal processes for transaction assessment/approval

Pay

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $113,000 and $141,525/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Schedule

The position is full-time.
