About the role
All Lowe’s associates deliver quality customer service while maintaining a store that is clean, safe, and stocked with the products customers need. As a Merchandising Assistant Store Manager, you will:
- Anticipate customer flow and work demand, redirecting efforts and schedules to ensure proper coverage when and where needed.
- Plan for spikes in sales and ensure the store has the in-stock position to support demand.
- Conduct safety walks, monitor use of store power equipment, and coach associates around safe work practices.
The Merchandising Assistant Store Manager leads a team of associates to ensure customers receive exceptional service in a clean, safe, well-stocked store. You are accountable for achieving sales and margin goals while driving operational efficiencies and maximizing customer satisfaction. At times, you may provide full leadership over the store.
You will collaborate with peers on the store leadership team, the District Manager, and Area support staff to assess customer needs and develop methods for achieving service, sales, and operational objectives. This role may also involve rotating through Specialty and Operations assignments for cross-training and development.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of associates to deliver exceptional customer service.

- Perform manager-on-duty responsibilities, including management of daily store operations and processes.
- Collaborate with the store leadership team and district/area staff to meet customer and business objectives.
- Rotate through Specialty and Operations assignments for cross-training and development.
Requirements
- 2 years of experience leading associates in a retail environment.
- 3 years of experience working in a fast-paced, cross-functional work environment.
- 1 year of experience performing manager-on-duty responsibilities, including management of daily store operations.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to obtain sales-related licensure or registration as required by law.
- Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform job duties.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds without assistance; may lift over 25 pounds with or without assistance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 5 years of experience leading service associates in retail or consumer service.
- 3 years of experience performing manager-on-duty responsibilities.
- Experience in the home improvement retail sector.
- Broad knowledge of interior/exterior product categories (e.g., flooring, cabinets, millwork, building materials, appliances, home décor, lighting, plumbing).
- Experience working with store computer systems (e.g., Project Tool, Genesis, M2O, Thin Client).
Schedule
- Generally scheduled for 48 hours per week; more hours may be required based on business needs.
- Requires morning, afternoon, and evening availability any day of the week.
This role does not require regular travel but may require occasional travel to meetings, trainings, or to support neighboring stores.
Pay
Pay Range: $62,000.00 - $104,000.00 annually. Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
