About the role
The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) is seeking a MEP System Specialist to support the operation, maintenance, and performance of the District's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
Reports To
Director of Facilities & Operations
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain district mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems using building automation controls.
- Program and adjust building control systems to support daily operations, special events, and energy efficiency.
- Diagnose system issues and coordinate repairs through work orders or direct service.
- Perform HVAC maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance on district equipment.
- Oversee the work order system to ensure timely completion and coordinate work with outside contractors when necessary.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and compliance records.
- Manage inventory of MEP equipment, parts, tools, and supplies.
- Cook up purchasing of equipment, parts, and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Support and assist district MEP technicians to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
- Respond to emergency mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues during and after normal work hours as needed.
- Transport tools, equipment, and supplies to district facilities.
- Participate in professional development, training, and department meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) field.
- Certifications: EPA Certification required.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Knowledge of MEP systems, HVAC equipment, building automation controls, safety practices, and applicable codes and regulations.
- Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical systems.
- Experience planning projects and coordinating multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Proficiency with standard office software and computerized building control systems.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff, vendors, and contractors.
- Strong problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and attention to detail.
