About the role

The MEP Superintendent (NIGHTS) is responsible for field operations on assigned projects to achieve timely and profitable completion, specifically for Mechanical and Electrical work. This role directly supervises the field labor force, including laborers and craft workers, and requires strong leadership, organizational, time management, communication, and client service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of the field labor force
  • Review and approve Trade Contractor Payment Applications with the Project Manager
  • Maintain good relationships with internal and external clients, including Owner and Architect/Engineer representatives
  • Develop and maintain the site logistics plan in coordination with the Project Manager
  • Manage the quality program and coordinate site testing and inspection efforts
  • Monitor costs, including labor time and materials
  • Manage self-perform features of work
  • Ensure an Injury-Free Environment through personal actions and mentoring
  • Manage schedules to ensure activities are completed on or ahead of scheduled dates
  • Attend and participate in project meetings, including subcontractor meetings
  • Assist with the PreCon/Estimating phase of the project
  • Verify final record drawings are accurate
  • Mobilize the site and set up site utilities
  • Ensure necessary permits are secured and inspections occur
  • Review and verify all Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Review and approve submittals for processing
  • Review cost reports to ensure accuracy of quantities and work put in place
  • Maintain detailed daily records of MEPS trade contractors and work progress
  • Conduct yourself in accordance with Manhattan’s Guiding Principles and the Way We Work
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent (may substitute education with related experience on a one-to-one basis)
  • 8 years of Trade contractor experience in a superintendent role (or similar)

  • Occasional travel, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (valid Driver’s License required)
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site hazards
