ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Aid the preconstruction team in developing early MEPFP budgets and system selections.
- Create project-specific MEPFP scopes and responsibility matrices.
- Secure and review subcontractor proposals and change orders.
- Influence value engineering decisions to keep within budget and minimize scope impacts.
- Lead MEPFP subcontractor scoping and recommend award candidates.
- Identify early procurement items and facilitate expedited release processes if necessary to meet project schedules.
- Manage design constraint logs to ensure design and project schedules are maintained.
- Participate in design meetings throughout the project lifecycle and assist with handoffs to PM/VDC teams.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate MEPFP-related activities from design through construction, commissioning, and owner training.
- Establish design checkpoints and review them for compliance, quality, and scope accuracy.
- Manage MEPFP budgets and provide periodic cost updates, including justifying any cost changes.
- Develop phasing plans and construction sequencing strategies.
- Resolve conflicts among MEPFP trades.
- Leverage relationships to enhance client and owner involvement and advance business objectives.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
- At least 5 years of MEP design or design-built PM experience, with working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection construction procedures and practices.
- Professional Engineering License preferred but not required.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated ability to interpret trade-specific plans, prints, specifications, schematics, and applicable codes.
- Knowledge of MEPFP system types and historical pricing.
- Strong independent review of drawings and specifications, with the ability to identify scope gaps and implement value engineering.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and digital coordination tools.
- Self-directed with strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
