Mentor for Youth in Foster Care
About the role
Founded in 1982, Christian Family Care Agency is a private nonprofit, 501(c)(3) social services agency that provides Adoption, Foster Care, Pregnancy Counseling, along with Child & Family Counseling programs focused on meeting the needs of children and families in Arizona. CFC’s fundamental belief is that a nurturing family is vital to every child’s success. Hundreds of children that have come to CFC in crisis situations are now part of loving and caring families. Christian Family Care is licensed by the State of Arizona, and accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA). Our Volunteer Mentor position provides support to a struggling youth or young adult (mentee aging anywhere from 8 to 18 years or older) impacted by the foster care system. The mentor will be a consistent figure and role model offering counsel and friendship.
Responsibilities
The support mentors provide is tailored to the mentee’s specific needs and is crucially needed to encourage and support them. This is accomplished by your willingness to meet and build a lifelong connection through one-on-one visits with a mentee.
Requirements
- Meet with their mentee a minimum of four hours per month
- Commit to at least one year (opportunity to re-evaluate at 90 days)
- Be a Christian in agreement with our statement of faith and either have or be actively looking for a home church
