About your Role

You will provide direct support, training, and assisting parents and caregivers in navigating systems of care for youth in their home. You will develop structured and positive relationships with Caregivers to empower them to succeed in parenting youth impacted by trauma. Services are primarily delivered in a community setting, to parents who are caring for youth with identified behavioral and/or mental health concerns. Parent mentoring is client-driven and provided during times identified as most relevant to the client (may include some nights, early mornings, and occasional weekends).

Responsibilities

  • Use a combination of modalities including Motivational Interviewing and Collaborative Problem Solving in order to accomplish specific goals identified with the client.

Requirements

  • Must be willing and able to drive up to one (1) hour to meet with clients
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • One (1) year of relevant experience (additional education may substitute for years of experience)
  • Prior experience working or caring for youth who exhibit challenging behavior
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and auto insurance
  • Ability to pass fingerprinting and background checks

Qualifications

  • Strong preference for candidates who have lived experience as a Foster Parent

Skills

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work with individuals experiencing trauma
  • Knowledge of motivational interviewing and collaborative problem solving
