About the Role
The Mental Hygiene Staff Development Specialist 2 assists higher-level specialists in planning, organizing, and presenting institution and community-based training programs. These programs aim to improve the knowledge and abilities of staff responsible for the care, program, treatment, and well-being of individuals with mental disabilities in various mental hygiene settings.
Responsibilities
- Directly participate in training programs.
- Gather data to support the development and organization of training programs.
- Identify training needs within mental hygiene settings.
- Conduct informational sessions concerning available training.
Qualifications
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered under the NY HELPS program if they meet one of the following:
- One year of experience in the direct preparation and delivery of classroom training in a mental hygiene setting.
- A bachelor’s degree in a human services field.
Candidates within State Service may also qualify for a competitive class appointment with 1 year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Pay
Salary range: $53,764 to $68,630 annually.
Schedule
- Full-time, permanent position.
- Workweek: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
- Workday hours: 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM (flexible scheduling not allowed).
- No mandatory overtime or compressed workweek.
- Telecommuting not allowed.
