The initial compensation for this position ranges from $23.00 - $28.23 per hour, depending on experience, location, and internal equity considerations. A 7.5% Bilingual Differential is offered for qualified positions.

Job Summary
The Mental Health Worker II provides direct support to adult clients with behavioral health needs through structured interventions, skill-building, and care coordination. This role engages in client-centered services across outpatient, residential, or community-based settings.
Responsibilities
Provides direct support to clients through therapeutic activities, behavioral interventions, and skill-building exercises.
- Assists in implementing individualized treatment plans and documents client progress toward goals.
- Participates in intakes, assessments, and team-based case planning as appropriate to program structure.
- Conducts check-ins, wellness calls, and crisis support under clinical supervision.
- Serves as a lead support to Mental Health Worker I staff or trainees.
- Supports clients in navigating resources, attending appointments, and achieving recovery goals.
- Documents services provided in electronic health records in accordance with agency and regulatory guidelines.
- Supports a safe, structured, and inclusive environment across settings.
- Communicates observations and concerns to clinical supervisors and contributes to case discussions.
- May assist in onboarding, guiding, or mentoring newer staff or interns.
- Participates in trainings, team meetings, and supervision to support continuous learning and service quality.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High School Diploma or GED and four (4) or more years of relevant experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience (two years of relevant experience equals one year of education) to include:
- Three (3) years of experience working with adults experiencing mental illness, trauma, or co-occurring conditions.
- Familiarity with behavioral health documentation, EHR systems, and Medi-Cal standards.
- Experience in residential, outpatient, or field-based mental health programs.
- Current CPR/First Aid and crisis de-escalation certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required depending on setting.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand or sit. The employee is required to use hands to produce records and/or documentation in manual or electronic format. The employee must possess ability to ensure significant communication with the Clinics’ community members. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally move or lift up to 10 pounds.
