About the role

The Mental Health Therapist at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) provides professional services to patients and families, facilitating the use of individual, public, and private resources to promote optimal functioning.

Responsibilities

• Provides skilled psychosocial assessment and collaborates with the care team to deliver comprehensive mental health and substance use/abuse treatment.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of professional services and adjusts/redefines goals and modalities as necessary.
• Shares information about patient/family situations with staff from other agencies and programs as appropriate, adhering to confidentiality guidelines and relevant laws.
• Organizes workload and prioritizes tasks based on patient care needs.
• Completes documentation in a timely, legible, and organized manner according to department, hospital, and legal standards.
• Identifies barriers to effective service delivery or problems in work assignments and actively contributes to initiatives that improve service delivery.
• Recognizes professional strengths and areas for growth, and is accountable for the development and enhancement of professional practice skills.
• Adheres to ethical codes and maintains compliance with medical-legal reporting requirements.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to provide quality comprehensive treatment to patients and families.
• Documents therapy sessions, clinical assessments, and progress notes in a timely and organized manner.
• Participates in regularly scheduled supervision and provides administrative support for outreach, scheduling, and coordinating care for clients.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related fields - Required
• Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related fields with a certificate as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor - Preferred
• At least one (1) year of previous experience in a hospital, health organization, or mental health agency setting - Required
• At least one (1) year of previous experience in addictions counseling (if applicable) - Preferred
• Licensed Social Worker (LSW) (New Jersey) - New Jersey State Licensing Board - Preferred
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) (New Jersey) - New Jersey State Licensing Board - Preferred
• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) (New Jersey) - New Jersey State Licensing Board - Preferred
• Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor - New Jersey Certification Board - Preferred
• Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor - New Jersey Certification Board - Preferred

Qualifications

• Licenses and Certifications: Licensed Social Worker (LSW) (New Jersey), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) (New Jersey), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) (New Jersey), Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor - New Jersey Certification Board, Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor - New Jersey Certification Board - Preferred

Pay

SALARY RANGE: $69,200.00 - $88,200.00 Annually
