Responsibilities

  • Performs complex psychosocial assessments and diagnostic formulations for patients and their families when indicated.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive and individualized treatment plans for patients and families with clearly defined therapeutic goals.
  • Conducts individual, family, couple, and systems-oriented and evidence-based psychotherapies within the accepted standards of practice as delineated by OMH and the Department.
  • Ensures successful completion of therapeutic goals and plans termination of therapy accordingly.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of and follows Discipline, Collaborative Care Division, and Department of Psychiatry Mental Health and Wellness Services policies and procedures, as well as those delineated by OMH.
  • Engages in annual and periodic performance review process with Program Director, supervisor, and clinical chief.
  • Provides brief mental health services for individuals who have a diagnosable mental illness, functions as the primary clinician, and is responsible for assessment, treatment planning, therapy/counseling, and education services for patients and families.
  • Participates in formal and informal collaboration with oncology clinicians, nurse practitioners, and medical social workers.
  • May provide support for clinicians in training and participate in coverage for other Division of Collaborative Care and Wellness Programs as needed.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or closely related field and major course work in marriage and family theory and practice required.
  • 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds required.
  • Available to see patients at least one evening a week.

Qualifications

  • NYS licensure as a mental health practitioner (e.g., Mental Health Counselor, Creative Arts Therapist) upon hire required or within 36 months of hire if not obtained upon employment.
  • If working on the ACT or Mobile Crisis teams, NYS licensure as a mental health practitioner within 48 months required.

Skills

  • Sound working knowledge of models of family therapy.
  • Knowledge about and ability to implement evidence-informed psychotherapeutic interventions preferred.
  • Commitment to and routine demonstration of biopsychosocial approach to care of individuals and families.

$63,086.00 - $85,176.00

Schedule
