About the role

Health, Counseling, and Disability Access Services seek an experienced mental health therapist to provide mental health services to UMSL students presenting with a wide range of clinical needs as well as to contribute to the ongoing enhancement of clinical services for all students.

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience working with a wide variety of clinical populations and an understanding of intersectionality and its impact on the lives of students. This role is intended for a professional committed to the mission and work of university counseling centers and interested in contributing to a collaborative, multidisciplinary staff.

Competence working with a broad range of therapy clients is essential. The successful candidate will value an integrated approach that includes clinical service delivery, training, campus consultation, prevention and early intervention efforts, and collaborative campus relationships.

Desired qualities include strong communication skills, a collaborative working style, effective self-care and boundary management, and the ability to manage workload demands while contributing to a positive and professional work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling/therapy
  • Lead, develop, and promote group therapy offerings
  • Participate in outreach, access coordination, and community engagement
  • Perform crisis intervention and consultation
  • Potential supervision of clinical graduate interns
  • Contribute to community engagement efforts

Requirements

  • Master's degree in psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or social work
  • Relevant licensure (or eligible to be licensed within 12 months) within the State of Missouri

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-degree experience in providing mental health treatment
  • Experience promoting, developing, and maintaining group therapy
  • University counseling center experience
  • Interest and experience in utilizing a brief therapy model, crisis intervention, hospitalization experience, and work with more complex cases

Pay

$53,976 - $64,000

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
