About the role

Kaniksu Community Health is a non-profit, award-winning Community Health Center located in north Idaho. We provide integrated, team-based healthcare services, including medical, dental, and behavioral health, from pediatrics to geriatrics. Our mission is to ensure that quality healthcare is accessible, approachable, and affordable for all.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain active and current licensure, and participate in continuing educational activities to stay updated on the latest standards in Behavioral Health Services.
  • Provide comprehensive health education and promote disease prevention to target populations.
  • Prescribe and carry out, or direct others in carrying out, appropriate treatment based on clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Understand and manage the use of common medications and their side effects.
  • Educate patients about behavioral health conditions and promote overall health and well-being.
  • Create and implement individualized health care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Record patient-provider interactions accurately in the medical record.
  • Be aware of the stressors affecting KCH patient populations and collaborate effectively with colleagues and community partners.

Requirements

  • Current License in the State of Idaho as a Behavioral Health Provider.
  • Clearance through the National Practitioner Database.
  • Proven clinical competence and experience in providing primary and preventive health services.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with a collaborative approach.
  • Experience with rural community health care and public health principles.
  • A high level of personal and professional integrity.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate clinical privileges and work under FTCA coverage.
  • CPR (BLS) certification, ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic principles of health, illness, and wellness, including current best practices in preventive and primary behavioral health care.
  • Experience with electronic health records and computer literacy.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of common medications and their effects.
  • Ability to adapt to rural community health care environments.
  • High energy level and positive attitude.
