Mental Health Therapist

Amae Health is a Series B, venture-backed Public Benefit Corporation delivering specialty outpatient care for people living with severe mental illness, including schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar I disorder, and treatment-resistant depression. We design and operate high-acuity, in-person clinics across the United States, integrating psychiatry, therapy, primary care, dietitians, and community health workers under one roof to provide coordinated, longitudinal care for a historically fragmented population. About the role

We are hiring a Mental Health Therapist for our Long Beach, CA clinic (opening soon). Onsite supervision for limited permits is available.

Severe mental illness affects over 15 million adults in the U.S., yet the tools to solve it—clinical protocols, measurement science, precision medicine, and technology for coordinated longitudinal outpatient care—have not been built. Amae Health is developing all of it: the care, the science, and the technology. This is a frontier problem requiring frontier solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group therapy to a panel of complex SMI patients.
• Provide continuous, regular support as patients navigate recovery, both in person and occasionally virtually.
• Deliver evidence-based care in a holistic, wrap-around care model.
• Collaborate with patient care teams and behavioral health providers to ensure an integrated, cohesive approach to care.
• Address medical needs to mitigate negative impacts of social determinants of health.
• Provide consultation to therapists on the treatment team, including licensed therapists and trainees; assist with program development.

Requirements

• Active Licensed Psychologist, LMSW, AMFT, or LPC license in the state of CA; onsite supervision for limited permits available.
• Thrives in a collaborative team environment and establishes positive relationships with other medical professionals.
• Experience and interest in working with adults and at least 1 year of experience working with patients with severe mental illness.
• Experience in evidence-based interventions, including CBT, DBT, or MI.
• Ability to navigate challenging situations with professionalism.
• Thorough understanding of confidentiality and appropriate documentation standards.
• Technologically savvy, with the ability to learn and navigate new tools and technologies.
• Highly organized with the ability to work autonomously.
• Strong listening skills and excellent verbal communication capabilities.

Pay

Base salary range for this role is $75,000 - $115,000 per year (full-time schedule) + performance-based bonus opportunity.
