Part time
Responsibilities
- Direct one-to-one observation of patients in the ED, while documenting the patient’s condition during monitoring
- Assist with crisis intervention by utilizing approved de-escalation and calming techniques as appropriate
- Participates in mitigating the safety of patients experiencing psychosocial crises and their physical environment
- Immediately escalate safety or patient behavioral concerns to ED nurses, providers, or other colleagues including security personnel
- Provide emotional support with calming techniques when appropriate
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving/critical thinking skills with a collaborative approach
- Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain composure in stressful situations
- Sitting for extended periods of time with frequent standing, walking, bending, and stooping
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous behavioral health experience preferred
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Current Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training certification from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or ability to obtain certification and maintain annually
