Mental Health Technician-Part Time Days/Evenings

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Affords assistance in providing basic and routine care for patients in an assigned area, under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel.
• Documents on patient’s status in accordance to the program's policies.
• Fulfills responsibilities as per the Policies and Procedures of the specific unit, Department of Nursing, and supports the hospital and department mission, goals and objectives.
• Promotes teamwork with physicians, case managers, nurses and personnel of other departments.
• Manages supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner consistent with budgeting limits for the department.
• Performs all skills in job-appropriate competencies after orientation.
• Aids in organizing and completing therapeutic groups, based on the program schedule.
• Maintains competency notebook and participates in program educational services.
• Maintains yearly updates of mandatory education.
• Contributes to the continuous Performance Improvement process.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• One of the following: Associates degree in Human Services-Mental Health or other behavioral science discipline.
• Minimum of 1 year of mental health or related healthcare experience, for example, as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
• Ability to interact with psychiatric patients in various stages of illness.
• Ability to participate in performance improvement activities.
• CPR (AHA BLS Provider) required at hire.
• CPI required within 90 days.
