Responsibilities

• Observe and record patient information pertinent to the treatment plan
• Welcome new patients through specific admission protocols
• Assist with the patient discharge process
• Maintain direct patient observation
• Lead patient education, community, goal, and activity groups
• Assist nursing staff by taking vital signs and help patients perform ADLs
• Act as first responder to codes, behavioral outbursts, attempts to introduce contraband, and medical issues
• Adjust therapeutic approach based on acuity, age, gender, and cultural considerations
• Do not assume independent responsibility for patient care
• Perform duties consistent with Voyages Behavioral Health policies, procedures, and guidelines

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred
• Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) where required by state preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• Crisis management certification per hospital policy and standards required

Experience

• No prior experience required
• Preferred: 2–3 years of experience in an acute hospital, rehabilitation hospital, or skilled nursing unit

Schedule

• PRN position with flexible scheduling
• Tier 2: minimum 6 shifts per month
• Tier 3: minimum 8 shifts per month
• Both tiers require: 1 full weekend per month, 2 major holidays, and 1 minor holiday per month
