Mental Health Technician-Lab/Med Support

About the role

As a Mental Health Technician, you will help maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment for patients. You will assist with therapeutic activities, promote wellness, and contribute to de-escalation efforts when needed. Your presence and behavior will serve as a positive example, offering guidance and encouragement to those in your care.

Responsibilities

• Provide Direct and Indirect Care: Support patients individually and in groups within an inpatient behavioral health setting
• Ensure Safety and Well-Being: Participate in de-escalation strategies and help ensure a safe environment that meets patients’ physical and emotional needs
• Serve as a Role Model: Demonstrate effective problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and coping skills
• Assist with Therapeutic Activities: Facilitate or support recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities that enhance emotional and mental wellness

Requirements

• Level II: One year of behavioral health patient care experience required
• Possesses a strong commitment to patient well-being and safety
• Must believe that recovery is possible

Qualifications

• Physical examination: occasionally lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull a maximum force of 25 pounds
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to fulfill job-related travel

Pay

Level II: $15.28 per hour. Additional differentials: $0.50/hour for evening and night shifts, $0.75/hour for weekends and holidays, plus $1/hour shift pay for any shift worked (stackable with other differentials).

Schedule

Primary schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–4:00 pm. Weekends and holidays may be required. Position is primarily with Medical Support/Lab; technicians may be asked to cover unit floors as needed. FLSA non‑exempt. Posted until filled.
