Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and supervision throughout each shift.
- Obtain vital signs and observe patients for changes in behavior or condition.
- Conduct routine safety rounds and accurately document patient observations.
- Aid with admissions, patient orientation, and discharge processes.
- Support patients with daily activities while encouraging healthy coping and life skills.
- Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to assist patients experiencing emotional or behavioral crises.
- Escort patients to activities, appointments, and treatment areas as needed.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic treatment environment.
- Communicate patient concerns and behavioral changes promptly to the nursing team.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to support individualized patient care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and at least one (1) year of direct care experience working with behavioral health or psychiatric patients.
- One (1) year of military Corpsman experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field with experience working with mental health patients.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with previous behavioral health or psychiatric patient care experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.
- Ability to obtain Handle With Care certification during orientation.
- Ability to work assigned 12-hour shifts, including rotating weekends.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced situations.
