About the role

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate expertise in mental health promotion and maintenance of high-quality patient care while respecting patient integrity, information, and rights.
• Perform tasks necessary to maintain a therapeutic environment and optimum patient care.
• Safely and professionally escort patients to and from scheduled activities.
• Monitor and record vital signs accurately.
• Assist with maintaining unit cleanliness.
• Maintain strong interpersonal relationships with program staff.
• Use appropriate telephone etiquette, record messages accurately, and direct inquiries to the correct staff.
• Maintain support services vital to effective program operation.
• Manage unit filing and paperwork systems as assigned by Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse.
• Assist with patients’ activities of daily living.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Document observations and baseline measurements in the medical record.

Requirements

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
