About the role

The Mental Health Tech provides direct patient care of psychiatric patients under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. They facilitate groups as assigned, monitor and assess the mental status and psychiatric symptoms of patients, and make appropriate interventions. They assist in activities of daily living (ADLs), supervise meal times, and pass trays. They also obtain vital signs and assist other staff in milieu management. Documentation on patient charts is maintained.

Requirements

Associate or bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, or mental health field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Group facilitation skills, knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and treatments, and crisis intervention skills
Behavioral Medicine experience, two years preferred in an inpatient setting
BLS certified, Crisis Intervention and CPI certification within six months of hire
Ability to walk six to eight-hour shifts and lift/carry up to 50 lbs
Ability to work under periods of high stress and in a consistently fast-paced environment
