Mental Health Technician
Job Summary and Qualifications
As our Mental Health Technician, you will perform basic patient care services related to behavioral health under the supervision of the nurse (RN). You will assist the patient care team in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, crisis intervention, and activities of daily living. You will also perform delegated tasks such as obtaining vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, calorie counts, establishing rapport with patients, observing, monitoring, and providing protection to ensure patient safety, performing bedside glucose testing and collecting samples for lab as needed, assisting the RN to collect data from patients on admission and discharge preparations, providing a positive role model for developing socialization skills, coordinating and participating in group activities, and encouraging appropriate patient interaction.
Requirements
- Certified Behavioral Health Technician preferred, PCT training within 6 months of hire
- High school or GED preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support through the American Heart Association, CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training required for Behavioral Health
- Lifting 100 Lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 Lbs.
