About the role

The Mental Health Technician plays a crucial role in supporting psychiatric patients within a collaborative, interdisciplinary treatment team. Responsibilities include providing a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment, assisting with comprehensive health care outcomes, performing specialized functions, advocating for ethical and holistic care, and maintaining a safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the unit through excellent patient customer service and clinic management assistance
  • Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, front office staff, and clinic management to ensure comprehensive health care outcomes
  • Perform a variety of functions within the clinic setting requiring specialized knowledge and integration of available standards, resources, and data
  • Advocate for ethical and holistic care promoting the autonomy, dignity, and health of patients from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds
  • Assist with maintaining a safe and hazard-free environment by observing and documenting patient behavior, conducting patient room searches, reporting unsafe conditions, and applying appropriate emotional and physical support
  • Provide and document interventions in a variety of modalities individually matched to the needs of each patient

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or any other human services field preferred
  • In lieu of education, one year of experience is acceptable
  • Must obtain a Nursing Assistant Registered (NAR) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) prior to start date
  • If assigned to Navos Hospital, BLS certification is required prior to starting. CPR certification is required for other campuses, and First Aid and Food Handler's Card are also required within the first two weeks of hire.
  • Washington State Counselor Agency Affiliated Registered (ACCR) credential must be applied for within thirty (30) days of hire. The credential must be obtained upon issuance by the Department of Health.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid Washington State license as a Mental Health Technician (MHT)
  • Must have a valid Washington State license as a Registered Nurse (RN)

Pay

The salary range for this position is $26.69 - $44.12 USD per hour. Pay is influenced by factors such as years of experience, skill set, and certification(s) and/or education.
