About the Role

The TCBH Nursing Department is hiring for Mental Health Technicians who provide non-professional direct care for consumers of behavioral health treatment in an inpatient setting. This includes participation in de-escalation activities and ensuring consumer safety. The position acts as a role model for consumers, demonstrating effective problem-solving and decision-making skills. Responsibilities also include assisting with recreational and therapeutic activities, transporting residents to and from medical appointments, and ensuring scheduled programming is carried out.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-professional direct care for consumers in an inpatient behavioral health setting.
• Participate in de-escalation activities to ensure consumer safety.
• Act as a role model for consumers, demonstrating effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Assist in providing recreational and therapeutic activities for consumers.
• Transport residents to and from medical appointments.
• Ensure scheduled programming is carried out.

Requirements

• Ability to pass an OSBI background check.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to fulfill job-related travel.
• Upon conditional offer of employment, must submit to a physical examination and meet the following requirements: occasionally lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull a maximum force of 25 pounds.

Qualifications

MHT I – No prior experience required.

Pay

Hourly pay rate: Level I - $15.10. Shift differentials apply when applicable.

Schedule

• Full-time position.
• Primary hours: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM.
• Coverage required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; work hours and location may vary based on business necessity.
• Employees may be required to work weekends and overtime.

About Us

The Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health (TCBH) is a psychiatric hospital accredited by The Joint Commission, dedicated to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care. TCBH provides a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment that supports recovery and enhances quality of life for individuals and the community. The facility serves adults aged 18 and older experiencing a mental health crisis, with or without co-occurring substance use disorders, who are medically stable.

In response to the increasing need for mental health services, TCBH is being replaced by the new Oklahoma Psychiatric Care Center (OPCC). Located in the OSU Academic Medical District in downtown Tulsa, this modern facility will feature 106 inpatient beds, an expanded residency program, and an enhanced range of behavioral health services. Construction is currently in progress.
