Schedule
- Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
- 2 (12) hour shifts per week
- Weekend rotation every 4 weeks
- Serving the Crisis Center at the Mathile Center
About the Role
The Mental Health Technician II provides direct care and support to patients with emotional, psychiatric, or behavioral conditions under the supervision of licensed clinical staff. The MHT assists in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment and promotes patient engagement in treatment and daily activities. This role is critical in monitoring patient behavior, facilitating group sessions, and supporting overall treatment plans.
Responsibilities
- Provide supportive, trauma-informed care to patients and families
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu
- Complete routine safety checks and constant attendance per order
- Adhere to patient-specific treatment plans
- Perform crisis intervention
- Assist with activities of daily living
- Ensure appropriate documentation
- Facilitate therapeutic groups and assist with programming
- Collaborate with the treatment team and support discharge planning
- Demonstrate competence in providing age-appropriate, trauma-informed care and service for pediatric patients
- Actively participate in self-appraisal for performance improvement
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field
- CPI or other crisis intervention training preferred or required within 90 days of hire
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a behavioral health or healthcare setting
- Experience working with patients with mental health or substance use disorders is strongly desired
