Mental Health Tech I - Mental Health Unit - Full Time - Nights

Responsibilities

• Direct care of mental health patients based on established standards and licensure guidelines.
• Provide trauma-informed care, including a safe and therapeutic milieu, routine safety checks, and constant attendance on patients as ordered.
• Ensure patient safety and adherence to treatment plans by demonstrating strong therapeutic communication skills and reporting patient information as indicated.
• Assist with activities of daily living, appropriate documentation, and collaborate with the treatment team.
• Support the unit lead in clerical duties and daily operations, including serving as the unit clerk or support coordinator.
• Comply with the safety management program to maintain a secure and therapeutic physical environment.
• Respond to the mission and goals of the hospital and mental health unit, promoting a patient and family-centered, trauma-informed environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

• Knowledge and modeling of Dayton Children’s values through effective interaction with patients, families, and treatment team members.
• Strong therapeutic communication skills.
• Accepts delegated tasks and reports patient information as indicated, including behavioral changes and mental status updates.
• Appropriately handles sensitive patient information, understanding and upholding strict confidentiality and privacy guidelines.
