MENTAL HEALTH TECH: FULL-TIME

Roxbury Treatment Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc., has been a beacon of hope and healing for 40 years, serving those struggling with behavioral health and substance use issues. Located in Shippensburg, PA, our 112-bed behavioral health facility offers acute psychiatric, detoxification, and rehabilitation services for adults as well as an adolescent inpatient psychiatric program for youth ages 13-17. We also have two substance use disorder outpatient offices in Carlisle and Chambersburg. About the role

This is a full-time position with an every-other-weekend rotation. The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from adolescent through geriatrics. All MHTs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Monitors unit milieu and helps maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients
• Leads activity groups for patients according to the program schedule
• Conducts patient observation rounds throughout the shift to ensure safety
• Works collaboratively with unit nursing staff on patient care activities
• Responds to patient crisis events using de-escalation techniques

Schedule

• Psychiatric units: 12-hour shifts (6:30 AM–7:00 PM or 6:30 PM–7:00 AM)
• Chemical dependency unit: 8-hour shifts (6:30 AM–3:00 PM or 2:30 PM–11:00 PM)

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a psychology-related field is highly preferred
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record
