About the role
This position assists in the daily monitoring of residents, working closely with clinical, education, and other milieu staff. Duties may include but are not limited to, developing life skills, recreation and social activities and re-directing patient behavior.
Responsibilities

- Redirect patient behavior as needed
Work environment
Work is performed in an adolescent treatment center, with exposure to mentally and/or behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable behaviors. This position may involve working in an office setting using related office equipment, including Visual Video Display Terminals, extensive personal computer and phone usage, as well as pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying.
Core approaches
Crisis Prevention Intervention and Trauma Informed Care are the cornerstone of treatment at Sequoyah Adolescent Treatment Center. De-escalation techniques and coping mechanisms are offered to residents, and life skills are taught to assist with success upon discharge.
Customer base
The facility serves adolescent males aged 13–17 with a history of violence and aggression.
Ideal candidate experience
- Experience working in a residential treatment facility
- Experience working in a therapeutic milieu
- Experience working in recovery-oriented and/or trauma-informed care environments
Minimum qualifications
- High School Diploma
- One year of experience related to the essential duties of the classification
- Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience totaling one year may substitute for the required experience
- Direct Care experience: 2 years
