About the role

This position assists in the daily monitoring of residents, working closely with clinical, education, and other milieu staff. Duties may include developing life skills, recreation and social activities, and re-directing patient behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor residents on an ongoing basis
  • Develop and facilitate life skills, recreation, and social activities
  • Use re-directing techniques to manage patient behavior

Work environment

Work is performed in a secure adolescent treatment center serving males aged 13–17 with a history of violence and aggression. The role requires exposure to mentally and/or behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable behaviors. Tasks may include pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying.

Approach and philosophy

Crisis Prevention Intervention and Trauma Informed Care are cornerstones of treatment. De-escalation techniques and coping mechanisms are offered to residents, and life skills are taught to support success after discharge.

Ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience:

  • Working in a residential treatment facility
  • Working in a therapeutic milieu
  • Working in recovery-oriented and/or trauma-informed care environments

Minimum qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • One year of experience related to the essential duties of the classification
  • Or any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience totaling one year may substitute for the required experience

Employment requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Pre-employment background investigation (conditional pending results)
