Mental Health Tech | Behavioral Health Unit (Inpatient) | Part-time (benefits eligible) | Nights

Responsibilities

• Maintains all patients and provides direct care to patients on an Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit.
• Monitors patients' safety by completing routine checks, monitoring the environment, recognizing and reporting changes in mood, affect, or condition to the nurse.
• Aids in admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients, collects and documents vital signs and weight accurately, and reports abnormal results to the nurse.
• Assists patients with feeding, personal care, including bathing and linen changes, and promotes good personal hygiene and room care.
• Supports and assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
• Utilizes established aggression control techniques to intervene with patients in crisis in a safe manner.
• Facilitates and processes patients after a crisis, demonstrates knowledge of patient's legal rights, supervises family visitation, and responds to family concerns.
• Orients new patients to the unit and its rules and schedules.
• Thoroughly searches patient belongings, documents accurate inventory, and removes contraband.
• Demonstrates knowledge of program protocols and behavior management in carrying out suicide precautions, use of restraints, elopement precautions, unit restriction, detox protocol, and general patient rounds.
• Monitors all patients for any changes in mood, affect, and/or physical conditions and reports these to the nurse.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/Equivalent.
• Experience working with patients in a mental health care setting preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required within 30 days of employment.
• Completion of WELLE training (Non-Abusive Psychological & Physical Intervention) within 90 days of employment; annual re-certification will be required thereafter.
