About the role
The Mental Health Tech provides crisis evaluations and assessments in Psychiatry, individual and group educational therapy, and collaborates with the treatment team including Psychiatrists, Mental Health Counselors, Registered Professional Nurses, and Social Workers. They also maintain relationships with community health, welfare, and social agencies while adhering to hospital policies.
Responsibilities
- Provides crisis evaluations and assessments in Psychiatry.
- Conducts individual and group educational therapy sessions.
- Works closely with the treatment team, including Psychiatrists, Mental Health Counselors, Registered Professional Nurses, and Social Workers.
- Maintains relationships with community health, welfare, and social agencies.
- Adheres to Olean General Hospital policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program in mental health counseling or equivalent.
- Preferred Master's degree.
- Successful completion of BLS course and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).
- Previous experience in a mental health setting is preferred.
- Ability to make complex decisions, exercise independent judgment, and think critically.
- Maintain composure and effectiveness in emergency situations and handle multiple priorities.
- Good communication skills, both verbally and written.

Education and credentials:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited program in mental health counseling or its equivalent.
- Masters degree preferred.
- Successful completion of BLS course and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).
