Job Summary
The Mental Health Tech at Olean General Hospital provides crisis evaluations and assessments in Psychiatry, individual and group educational therapy, and collaborates with the treatment team.
About the Role
Works with the treatment team including Psychiatrists, Mental Health Counselors, Registered Professional Nurses, and Social Workers. Maintains relationships with community health, welfare, and social agencies while adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provides crisis evaluations and assessments in Psychiatry
- Offers individual and group educational therapy
- Collaborates with the treatment team including Psychiatrists, Mental Health Counselors, Registered Professional Nurses, and Social Workers
- Maintains relationships with community health, welfare, and social agencies
- Adheres to Olean General Hospital policies and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program with a major in mental health counseling or equivalent
- Master’s degree preferred
- Successful completion of BLS course and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
- Previous experience in a mental health setting preferred
- Able to make complex decisions, exercise independent judgment, and think critically
- Able to maintain composure and effectiveness in emergency situations and handle multiple priorities
- Good communication skills, both verbally and written
