Mental Health Tech

Responsibilities

• Mentally engages and comforts psychiatric patients in order to meet their treatment goals.
• Monitors patients for safety and reports any concerns to the nursing staff.
• Engages patients in treatment groups, activities, and therapy sessions.
• Ensures a clean and safe environment for patients.
• Works closely with nurses and other unit staff to maintain a coordinated and therapeutic treatment milieu.
• Trains and mentors new employees.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of college in a related field or at least two years of experience as a Certified Nurses Assistant in a psychiatric setting preferred.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.

Working Conditions

• Indoor environment with temperature control.
• Exposure to occasional slippery floors, objects on floors, chemicals, and sharp objects.
• Exposure to hazardous materials, bloodborne pathogens, and communicable diseases.
• Subjected to stressful situations.
• Continuous standing and walking for up to 8 hours per day, with intervals of 15 minutes.
• Requires lifting a minimum of 50 pounds.
