About the Role

As a Mental Health Worker I, you will function as a member of the interdisciplinary team to assess the functional abilities, impairments, and needs of each patient and address these individually. You will provide support to the nursing staff and patient care through the direction and guidance of licensed staff and leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure supplies and equipment for patient care are readily available and organized efficiently
  • Correctly identify and use personal protective equipment appropriately
  • Respond to patient and family requests promptly
  • Accurately monitor and record patient information, test results, and stats
  • Provide care to assigned patients, including activities of daily living, non-medication pain management, and other interventions
  • Accurately follow patient care policies, practices, and protocols (e.g., sterile technique and skin care protocol)
  • Assist with personal hygiene and elimination needs
  • Provide patients with clean linen and towels at the beginning of shift and change as needed
  • Answer call system promptly and intervene appropriately
  • Clean equipment as directed
  • Ensure continuity of professional care and participate in program development and process improvement
  • Follow proper procedures during verbal and physical de-escalation of patients
  • Perform crisis intervention and restrain violent patients individually
  • Respond to all Code White alerts
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Comply with all policies and standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of experience as a patient care assistant in a mental health hospital setting

Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required
  • De-escalation Training Certification required

Schedule

Full time, Nights (7pm-7am) with alternating weekends and holidays
