Mental Health Tech

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manages the environment and crisis de-escalation incorporating the attributes of Careful Nursing.
• Identifies potential safety hazards.
• Conducts searches and contraband removal.
• Initiates individual patient interactions (e.g., one-to ones).
• Coordination of goal setting with patients and significant others (e.g., families).
• Participates in multidisciplinary patient staffing (care conference) on a weekly basis.
• Applies restraints under the direction of a licensed professional.
• Transports patients within the hospital as needed.
• Floors to all units as needed to provide observations for all behavioral health patients.
• Assures the safety of the patient and the environment.
• Provides 1:1 support for high acuity patients.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Facilitates therapeutic groups.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Certification in crisis intervention training required. Minimal two (2) years' experience with mentally ill patients preferred.
• Knowledge of crisis prevention techniques and methods.
• Knowledge of psychiatric illness and manifestations.
• Knowledge of patient’s growth and development needs.
• Ability to quickly recognize changes in condition and needs of patients.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in carrying out work duties.
