Mental Health Specialist - Response Team - NRC

About the role

The Norfolk Regional Center is Phase I of the Nebraska Sex Offender Treatment Program. It serves patients who have completed their criminal sentences but are considered high-risk for re-offending. This role involves providing additional security and responding to emergencies and alarms.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the safety and security of assigned areas.
• Maintain the Master Control Center.
• Ensure compliance with safety and security policies/procedures.
• Support Nursing Services in crisis resolution.
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies or crises.
• Intervene in verbal disputes and provide physical intervention using the approved crisis intervention model.
• Conduct patient and building searches.
• Escort individuals to appointments and activities within and outside the facility.
• Prepare summary documentation regarding patient behavior, shift activity, and actions taken.

Requirements/Qualifications

• At least 19 years old to work with adult clients; at least 21 years old to work with adolescents.
• A high school diploma or equivalent education.
• One or more years of education or experience in human services or military services, including direct or indirect work with others and experience with behavioral interventions, crisis intervention, and de-escalation.
• Experience working with a diverse population.
