Mental Health Specialist - Response Team - NRC
About the role
The Norfolk Regional Center is Phase I of the Nebraska Sex Offender Treatment Program. It serves patients who have completed their criminal sentences but are considered high-risk for re-offending.
Responsibilities
- Provides additional security and safety to the environment.
- Serves as an emergency responder in emergencies and alarms.
- Maintains the safety and security of assigned areas.
- Maintains the Master Control Center.
- Monitors the environment for compliance with safety and security policies/procedures.
- Supports Nursing Services in achieving crisis resolution.
- Responds quickly and effectively to emergencies or crises, intervening in verbal disputes and providing physical intervention using the hospital-approved crisis intervention model.
- Adheres to rules and regulations governing the conduct of aggressive situations and patient status.
- Completes patient and building searches.
- Escorts individuals to appointments and activities inside or outside the facility.
- Prepares summary documentation concerning patient behavior, shift activity, and actions taken.
Requirements/Qualifications
- At least 19 years old to work with adult clients; at least 21 years old to work with adolescents.
- A high school diploma or equivalent education.
- One or more years of education or experience in human services or military services, including direct or indirect work with others and experience with behavioral intervention programs, crisis intervention, and de-escalation.
- Experience working with a diverse population.
