Mental Health Security Technician

Responsibilities

• Aid patients with daily living activities.
• Monitor and report on patient behaviors and interactions.
• Maintain a safe environment and report unusual behaviors.
• Engage patients in therapeutic activities and provide emotional support.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to implement patient care plans.
• Assist with medication reminders and monitoring vital signs.
• Document patient behavior, activities, and interactions accurately.
• Promote patient dignity, privacy, and rights.
• Advocate for patients' needs and ensure their voices are heard.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Additional education or certifications in mental health or healthcare preferred.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting, especially with psychiatric patients, preferred.
• Experience as a nursing assistant, psychiatric aide, or similar role in a psychiatric facility or hospital setting highly desirable.
• Experience with adult male psychiatric patients or in a behavioral health unit beneficial.

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of basic patient care techniques.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building rapport with patients and staff.
• Ability to recognize and respond to changes in patient behavior or condition.
• Effective communication skills for collaborative work with multidisciplinary teams.
• Basic knowledge of mental health conditions and treatment modalities beneficial.
