Mental Health Professional - Limited Duration Three-Year Term

You will work alongside the Port of Seattle Police Department’s (POSPD) Officers and Crisis Care Coordinator to support the unsheltered community and those in crisis. Responsibilities include facilitating connections to local resources and services, coordinating case management with POSPD, and accompanying law enforcement officers to assist individuals with mental health, substance use, homelessness, and other social service needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide outreach, engagement, and support to individuals in need and make referrals to appropriate service providers.
• Promote best practices in treatment approaches, support systems, and interventions while advocating for individuals and liaising between caregivers and service providers.
• Follow up with identified individuals, emergency medical contacts, and social service providers.
• Study and analyze program participation, prepare recommendations, and report on improvements for existing and new programs.
• Review statistical data, identify future trends, and prepare data for reports and outcome summaries.
• Provide information, consultation, and referrals for officers and staff, assessing the appropriateness of service contracts or agreements with crisis case management professionals.
• Conduct training sessions for officers and staff on methods for dealing with the served population and social service resources.
• Provide information to courts and attorneys, attend and testify at court hearings or other legal proceedings as needed.

Requirements

• Two (2) years of experience working in behavioral health, chemical dependency, and/or with unsheltered populations.
• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
• One or more of the following active licenses in the State of Washington:
  • Advanced Social Worker
  • Independent Clinical Social Worker
  • Mental Health Counselor
• Five (5) or more years of experience working with individuals with mental illness, homelessness, and/or chemical dependency (desired).
• Awareness of available local resources in and around the area (desired).
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one prior to the start date.
• Must pass a background investigation, including a complete criminal records check, polygraph examination, medical examination, and psychological examination.
• Must establish and maintain a residence in Washington State within 30 days of employment.
• Must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check and a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) criminal history background check.
• Must obtain a Port of Seattle ID badge, a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire, and a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) within the first three months of employment.

Work Environment

• Nontraditional work hours, including weekends, holidays, and potential emergency shifts.
• Work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Occasional exposure to moving traffic, fumes, airborne particles, and aircraft noise.
• Required to walk and stand for extended periods throughout each shift.

Pay

Minimum Salary: $107,693.00
Maximum Salary: $145,702.00
