Mental Health Professional- Emerging Adult

About the Role
The Emerging Adults Mental Health Professional will work with all disciplines to attain effectiveness in serving the patient population, focusing on providing treatment for incarcerated individuals in the Emerging Adults program as they grow toward the responsibilities and possibilities of adulthood. The Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) is essential in providing care that assists program participants with developing self-awareness, accountability, skills, integrity, positive connections, empathy, and a sense of purpose.
Requirements
- Graduation from a Master’s level program in Behavioral Health services.
- Eligible for or hold an LCSW, LICSW, or LMHC. If eligible, must be on track to obtain licensure.
- Minimum of one year of employment in a social work capacity in a public or private agency or equivalent.
- Must receive a satisfactory background investigation report.
Responsibilities
- Performs structured intake behavioral health assessments to evaluate mental health status, risk factors, substance use history, and psychosocial needs.
- Reviews and documents prior treatment history, current symptoms, medication use, and relevant institutional behavior in the health record.
- Participates in the development of provisional diagnostic assessments and treatment recommendations in alignment with diagnostic criteria and correctional behavioral health standards.
- Performs administrative consults for specialized social services as determined by the specific needs of the Institution.
- Provides crisis intervention, suicide risk assessments, and referrals for urgent care as needed during program participation.
- Provides clinical input to the classification and programming teams regarding mental health treatment needs and housing considerations.
- Performs specific psychiatric social service work on the Behavioral Health Unit of a Correctional Facility.
- Assists in planning and implementing the goals and objectives of programs and projects; may direct special projects as requested.
- Participates in and conducts in-service programs, as well as assists in the orientation of new staff.
- Prepares necessary documentation, records, and reports.
- Maintains proficiency with all required software, including clinical documentation in the designated electronic health record system.
- Attends training and meetings as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
