About the role

The Mental Health Professional III role at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center delivers exceptional psychiatric treatment to patients and their families. The position focuses on patient-centered and high-quality care through evaluations, psycho-education, group activities, treatment planning, and therapeutic counseling.

Responsibilities

  • Provides social work services to patients and families, working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Conducts assessments and evaluations to ensure patients are progressing towards desired outcomes.
  • Coordinates efforts with other team members to address patient and family needs.
  • Collaborates with physicians on patient progress and discharge planning.
  • Communicates effectively with peers, supervisors, and external customers.
  • Coordinates discharge planning processes and ensures involvement of all healthcare team members.
  • Counsels patients and family members in decision-making and addressing psychosocial needs.
  • Maintains knowledge of resources and facilities available to patients and families.
  • Collaborates with personnel at other facilities to coordinate patient transfers and transitions.
  • Analyzes data, communicates findings, and documents information accurately.
  • Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
  • Orients and mentors new staff members.
  • Fulfills Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  • Takes an active role in detention order hearings on the behavioral health unit.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited social work program or Master’s Degree in a related field with appropriate background and experience.
  • Education should be clinically focused with study in human life span development and psychopathology.
  • Current VA License as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers through the AHA or CPR through the American Red Cross Crisis Prevention Institute certification within 30 days of hire.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience, including a graduate-level practicum (20 hours per week for 2 semesters or 40 hours per week for 3 months).
  • Experience must be focused in inpatient hospitalization, partial hospitalization, crisis prevention, or outpatient practice.

Qualifications
